Bunmahon
A delightful
resort and the holder of an EU Blue Flag for water quality, Bunmahon
is on the Dungarvan & Copper Coast Drive.
The headland protects the beach and there is an exhilarating walk across
the west end cliffs which reveals a superb coastal panorama.
Now a peaceful place dedicated to pleasure, Bunmahon was
once the centre of a thriving copper industry which flourished here
between 1824 and 1877. The Cornish Engine House, at nearby Tankardstown,
once pumped the mines to a depth of 400m.
